WeMove Europe is an independent and values-based organisation that seeks to build people power to transform Europe in the name of our community, future generations and the planet.
This campaign is now closed.
We did it! Supermarkets in the EU won’t be allowed to sell products that add to deforestation. Soon, you’ll no longer find chocolate, coffee, or meat that’s made by killing our trees.
The vote on a new law to protect our forests got the support of European politicians.
This win wouldn’t have been possible without this community. As part of the #Together4forests movement, we joined a petition of 1.2 million people, sent more than 200,000 messages and made phone calls to key MEPs and ministers.

To the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union
Petition
We call for the strongest possible European law to ban all products linked to deforestation and the destruction of nature.
Why is this important?
In South America, forests like the Amazon are cut and burned to make way for vast soybean fields. Iconic species like the jaguar are losing their homes. Thousands of people living in forests are forced to flee. [1]
All to produce soy and meat.
Europe is complicit in this disaster. Every year our governments import millions of tons of soybeans into Europe to feed cows, chickens, and pigs that are slaughtered for meat. [2]
In just a few days, the European Union will start negotiations on a new law that could ban the sale of all products made in deforested areas. [3]
But meanwhile the soy and meat companies are doing everything they can to weaken this law, so they can protect their profits. [4]
With 170 partner organisations standing by our side, we can make a big impact. A massive petition signed by hundreds of thousands of Europeans can’t be ignored and will show the EU where the public stands.
So add your voice and make sure the EU listens to people, and not companies.

- In November 2021, The European Commission released a draft law to cut deforestation out of the EU’s supply chains. The draft law would for the first time require companies selling certain products on the EU market to trace their origin and show that they are not linked to forest destruction or forest degradation. Negotiations in the European Parliament and between national ministers will start soon. EU agriculture and environment ministers will meet on 22 February and 17 March, while the members of European Parliament have already started to define their position.
